Stainless Steel Sinks
Satin Stainless Finish
For day to day cleaning, non-abrasive cleaners are safe. Stains and light scratches will require a mildly aggressive cleaner such as Flitz or Shiny Sinks Plus. For stubborn stains and noticeable scratches, more aggressive cleaners are suggested such as Bar Keepers Friend, Zud, Ajax, Comet or Never Dull.
High Gloss Mirror Finish
Use only mild liquid dish washing detergent with a soft sponge. Do not use any abrasive cleansers or Scotch-bright pads or permanent scratching will result.
Towel drying the surface after cleaning will minimize water spotting.
Composite Sinks
Daily cleaning can be done with any non-abrasive cleaner such as liquid dish washing detergent. For normal stains, a mild abrasive is suggested like Soft Scrub with bleach or Bar Keepers Friend. After every use rinse and wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth. Darker finishes will need to be rinsed with hot water. Stubborn calcium spots can be removed with Lime Away or CLR.
Fireclay
Mild abrasives such as Astonish Cleaner or Bon Ami with a sponge or cloth are recommended for cleaning fireclay sinks. Daily cleaning with abrasives will not harm the sink surface. Wipe sink dry after cleaning to minimize water spotting.
Copper
Antique, Natural and Tempered copper sinks can be cleaned with a mild soap and warm water. Never use harsh abrasives or copper cleaners as they can affect the finish. Keep your sink clean and dry with a soft cloth. Applying Flitz Faucet Wax will add extra protection.
Natural Stone
A granite or marble cleaner should be used with cleaning a natural stone sink, such as Marbamist by Stone Care International. If you choose to use a household cleaner, make sure it is non-abrasive and non-acidic. Wipe the basin dry with a soft cloth after each use. Sealing your sink once or twice a year is suggested to help maintain the finish. Stone Spray and Seal by Sonte Care International are available through most home centers and fabricators.
Cast Iron
Do not use any abrasives for everyday cleaning. Spray-on and liquid cleaners are suggested. For stubborn rust stains, use Bon Ami or Bar Keepers Friend. To prevent water spotting, dry sink with a soft cloth after every use.
Glass Sinks
Mild soap and warm water are suggested for cleaning glass sinks. However, if your sink becomes excessively dirty you can use a spray on or foam cleaner. After every use, dry sink with a soft cloth.
